Charlie does great work with ink and is very helpful in helping plan things out. Charlie is great at trying to get to know you as a person to help design the proper tattoo for you. After all it is permanent. I currently have 3 more large tattoos planned and 2 future appointments set up. I was so comfortable when getting the last one done I lost track of time and having so much fun joking around that It didn’t hurt at all.

Although they are by appointment only they are very flexible and care about their clientel. I have never been as comfortable with a stylist as I am with Natalie. I can trust her opinion on keeping my hair in a profesional cut yet let her change it up.

I hope I never have to find another place to get my hair and ink need done because I know that it will not be as great of an experience.

Natalie has held my hand thru some gross hair styles, and has fixed me up when I felt like a paper bag was my only option. She makes the whole experience fun, and has a lot of professional suggestions for you to try.

The other half of the shop is a tattoo room. Clean and comfortable, and he works well with you and your tattoo ideas. I’ve had a lot of tattoos done, and this is by far the most enjoyable tattoo experience.

I have had my hair cut by the fabulous Natalie, and I walked away feeling ready for a first date, or a walk down the runway. She was full of life and laughter, constantly keeping me engaged as she cut my hair. It was a magnificent experience.

On the other side of the wall you can hear her husband working in the tattoo studio, usually with some good beats playing. He did my back piece, and it is magnificent. I spent nearly 17 hours, altogether, in his chair. He was focused, and made sure that his work was flawless. He went over my tattoo with such detail before even applying it (I have about 100 words on my body) and stayed focused, while chatting with me. I love the tattoo, and every time I take off my shirt, I look at it and feel sexier.

I set up an appointment with Charlie for my first tattoo back in the beginning of July. We texted ideas and specifics around for a bit and everything fell into place with ease. He even was thoughtful enough to send a detailed map on how to get to the shop!
When I arrived for my appointment the scenery was very different from my expectations. Such a colorful and welcoming environment!
Onto the actual tattoo. I may not have any other experience to go by, but the level of pain from my tattoo was extremely minimal. A cat scratch is an apt way to describe it, and I get scratched by cats more often than I should due to how many cats I am always around. Speaking of cats. Charlie’s heckin cat is the most fabulous creature I have ever seen. His haircut is… UGH. I won’t spoil it. ��
Back on track. My time at Pinups and Needles was phenomenal. I know I’m awkward in most social situations, and not once did my quirks cause those “looks of pity” I receive far too often. Not to mention the artist made one of my least favorite activities (touching other humans) a much more pleasant experience then I could have ever dreamed for. I will definitely be going back too have more tattoos done by Charlie. �

Hana is a local artist. She has been creating art since she can remember, her family’s first home in TC still has her little painted toddler foot prints in the basement!

She recently started painting again to rehabilitate herself from surviving stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that she recently beat in March 2020.

She loves to paint people the most and dabbles in the abstract. She also enjoys creating commissioned portraits for people.
